My journey to finding Marisa started 7 years ago when I sadly lost my dad to cancer. I still grieve in my own way for him now. We were very close and I felt as though my voice and my soul had been taken from me. In his last few weeks; I lost my voice, when we were alone I had no clue what to say...I was stunned into silence. Doctors had given my dad a death time scale; he of course was going to stick two fingers up to the doctors and 'outlive' their expectations, he managed it by 7 days!
As I reflect I now understand that my dads voice had been taken away, his last few years were spent fighting what turned out to be a losing cause. He was made redundant from his job at the college and was fighting for his unfair dismissal, it was a fight that he lost, he to had had his voice taken away. His body took the brunt of his worry, he kept it all in, he didn't want to worry my mum; or his daughters (even though we lived away) he kept in his hurt and trapped his voice in his chest....he died of lung cancer!
Now why would I list this blog under 'Bring light into your life'? It seems apparent to me now that on my search to find him again, I tried a multitude of things that I would never have learnt to do. I trained as a medium, a past life therapist, attend spiritual churches, had reading with other mediums, all to find what I thought was my burnt out light, that lost bit of my soul, the connection to my dad again. What did I find as I travelled my journey? (and still do) I found that my light was dimmed, yes but not out; I found a purpose, I was finding me! My dad had held my light for so long I wasn't seeking out my passions, if I needed advice who would I ask? If I needed comfort, who would I ask? I knew I had to find these on my own.
Throughout my journey I had learnt to listen to my intuition, one day mundanely scrolling facebook an ad popped up, normally I skip these or don't watch the videos but this time I listened to my gutt and watched it. It was Vishen Lakhiani founder of a learning platform called Mindvalley, he was interviewing the lady I now called my mentor my teacher and my guide Marisa Peer...My light shone bright...every word this beautiful lady said resonated within me I knew I had found the next stage of my journey...She brought light into my life...
